About Me
I am a spiritual seeker and holistic health practitioner, drawn to earth-oriented spirituality, magic, and mysticism from early childhood. On the healing side, I am a licensed clinical social worker operating a private psychotherapy practice, as well as a certified holistic health practitioner. On the spiritual side, I am an astrologer, Yogi, and magic worker, with over 20 years of experience, two-and-a-half of which were spent in an intensive spiritual training program that focused on self-development, ritual, magic, Raja Yoga, Tarot, Astrology, and Kabbalah. That is where I began a daily practice of ritual and meditation, which I have continued since 2005.
After leaving the training program, I studied the Himalayan Academy’s Master Course for three years. I went on to study with a spiritual teacher from India, whom I met in 2008 and whose teachings I studied intensively from 2010 to 2018. She continues to be a guiding inspiration in my life and gave me the name Durgadas in 2011, which means servant of Durga or servant of the Divine Mother in Her fierce aspect.
I earned my master’s degree in social welfare from UCLA, where I studied psychotherapy, and my holistic health practitioner certification from Mueller College of Holistic Studies. My holistic health program included a Reiki 2 certification.
I have written two books: The Little Work: Magic to Transform Your Everyday Life, which is a manual for moving your spiritual practice from beginner to intermediate or advanced (though it is written to be appropriate for beginners too), and Worthy As You Are: Weed Out Unhealthy Beliefs and Nourish Your Authentic Self, which I like to think of as a love letter to the inner children of the world. It is about healing through pairing spiritual practice with cognitive behavioral therapy tools. Both books are published by Llewellyn Worldwide.
